Military Neurotechnology Following Traumatic Brain Injury (Cereset) Study : A randomized research trial for individuals with persisting symptoms following mild-Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI). The research trial is being conducted in two locations–Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, MD; and Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC) in Fort Bragg, NC (NCT03649958) INTERIM RESULTS PRESS RELEASE (PRWEB)

Military PTSD Study : An open label pilot trial to evaluate the use of HIRREM as an adjunct for service members or Veterans with military-related symptoms of traumatic stress (NCT03230890)

Primary Hypertension Study : A randomized clinical trial for patients with Primary Hypertension (high blood pressure with no clearly identified cause), who have blood pressures between 130-159 mmHg systolic, and 80-99 mmHg diastolic.  This study compares the use of in-office HIRREM plus continued current care to continued current care alone (NCT03479697)

Hot Flashes Study : A randomized clinical trial for women with menopause-related hot flashes, comparing the use of in-office HIRREM plus continued current care to continued current care alone (NCT03512002)

Insomnia Study : A randomized, controlled clinical trial for those with insomnia.  This study evaluates the use of HIRREM-SOP, an updated approach based on the same HIRREM core technology previously utilized, using new hardware and software, and a standardized series of protocols.  The study compares a series of in-office HIRREM-SOP sessions (acoustic stimulation linked to brainwaves), to acoustic stimulation not linked to brainwaves (NCT03607994).

Developmental Study
An open-label developmental study to evaluate the feasibility of HIRREM, as well as the effect size and the effect on autonomic function for a variety of symptoms and conditions.

Caregiver Study
An open label study to evaluate feasibility of use for caregivers of patients receiving radiation therapy for brain cancer.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
A randomized clinical trial for patients with persisting symptoms after TBI.

First Responders
A randomized clinical trial for first responders such as law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel.

Persisting Post-Concussion Symptoms in Athletes
To be organized in collaboration with the Sports Medicine Section in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Wake Forest School of Medicine, this project will be a single site, randomized, single blind, placebo-controlled study to evaluate the effects of HIRREM, compared to placebo, for athletes with concussion who experience symptoms persisting longer than 4 weeks following the TBI/concussion. This study will assess the effect of HIRREM on overall post-concussion symptoms, with a focus on headache, sleep, depression, clarity/focus, and balance.  Outcome measures will also include pre- and post-intervention blood pressure and heart rate recordings to evaluate autonomic cardiovascular control, brain MRI scans for network connectivity, and blood and saliva biomarkers for stress and inflammation.  The study is funded by a research grant from the Susanne Marcus Collins Foundation, Inc.
